Playsam in Kalmar AB are world famous for their design of the toys they sell. Together with their CEO Carl Zedig the goal was to find a new product for the company.  The process has far from been linear, I started off in one direction, got rejected, turned another way and we finally decided to create a rocking horse in a De Stijl style. At the same time taking consideration of the demands from Playsam and myself.Playsam?s products are archetypes of ordinary objects around us such as the car or the aeroplane. The company mainly produces its toys in wood and the stylized shape together with the blank painted surface has become a hallmark for them.De Stijl, the Dutch art movement containing artists, designers and architects such as Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg and Gerrit Rietveld.

Mitt syfte med denna uppsats har varit att enligt min frÄgestÀllning undersöka om i vad mÄn och pÄ vilket sÀtt det gÄr att se rationella respektive irrationella, i form av andliga, förhÄllningssÀtt till arkitektur- och konstskapande hos Le Corbusier, Bauhaus och De Stijl, och i sÄ fall utifrÄn vilka bakomliggande idéer hos dessa, samt vilka eventuella likheter och/eller skillnader mellan Le Corbusier, Bauhaus och De Stijl det gÄr att se gÀllande deras rationella respektive irrationella, i form av andliga, förhÄllningssÀtt till arkitektur- och konstskapande. GÀllande definitionen av det irrationella i form av det andliga, har jag utgÄtt ifrÄn fyra olika former av andlighet; kÀnslomÀssig, transcendent, religiös samt ockult.UtifrÄn mitt syfte och min frÄgestÀllning har jag som undersökningsmaterial valt ut delar av ett antal, specifika litterÀra verk, sÄvÀl originalverk av de undersökta konstnÀrerna och arkitekterna sjÀlva, som verk, konstvetenskapliga, sociologiska och idéhistoriska litteraturverk, utgörandes den tidigare forskningen som jag har Äterfunnit inom omrÄdet, om dessa av andra författare och forskare. UtifrÄn dessa litterÀra verk har jag analyserat och diskuterat Le Corbusiers, Bauhaus och De Stijls bakomliggande idéer kring och förhÄllningssÀtt till sin konst och arkitektur i och med perspektiv av rationalitet och irrationalitet i form av andlighet . Detta undersökningsmaterial har jag enligt metoden litteraturanalys och sammanstÀllning av litteraturkÀllor vidare tolkat, analyserat, kritiskt granskat, refererat och till en helhet jÀmfört och sammanstÀllt.Det analysresultat som jag med min undersökning har kommit fram till Àr att det hos sÄvÀl Le Corbusier som hos Bauhaus och De Stijl gÄr att finna liknande enhetliga och genomgÄende perspektiv av rationalitet i form av maskinestetik, geometri och monokrom fÀrgsÀttning; detta samtidigt som det hos alla tre, i form av en större diversifiering dem emellan jÀmfört med de rationella perspektiven, gÄr att finna irrationella perspektiv i olika former av andlighet. Hos Le Corbusier har jag funnit perspektiv av religiös, ockult och kÀnslomÀssig andlighet, hos Bauhaus perspektiv av kÀnslomÀssig, ockult och transcendent andlighet, samt hos De Stijl perspektiv av transcendent och ockult andlighet..

Bauhaus har arbetat fram en ny affÀrsplan för 2011-2012 dÀr ett internt mÄl Àr att bli ?bÀst pÄ service?. Ett steg pÄ vÀgen Àr ett nytt utbildningsprogram som syftar till att göra medarbetarna mer kundfokuserade. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur personalen respektive ledningen upplever att Bauhaus satsning pÄ nya utbildningar har tillfört större kundfokus inom företaget samt hur den interna kommunikationen skapar förutsÀttningar för att satsningen ska lyckas. Teoretiskt utgÄr studien ifrÄn vad som skapar tjÀnstekvalité samt hur företag kan pÄverka tjÀnstekvalitén.

This essays purpose is to accentuate the meaning of the knowledge of the design elements color, formand texture in the hair design education. Both the Bauhaus school and Pivot Point educationcampaign close knowledge in color, form and texture. In my study of the literature I compared theBauhaus school with Pivot Point International Inc, study material for hair design education. From thesimilarities in this material I develop a project in color, form and texture. This was a teaching test forstudents in the hair design education at the upper secondary.

MÄlet Àr att fÄ en bÀttre förstÄelse för hur det abstrakta mÄleriet uppkommit och för att göra detta möjligt har jag valt att utgÄ ifrÄn en av de abstrakta pionjÀrerna, Piet Mondrian. I undersökningen finns ett fokus pÄ att ta reda pÄ vilka hans inspirationskÀllor var och hur de Äterspeglar sig i hans konst. En diskussion och bildanalys förs kring ett antal av Mondrians mÄlningar samt ett par jÀmförelser görs med konstnÀren Toorop. Det finns en kortare förklaring av neoplasticismen, teosofin och en sammanfattning av teosofins roll för de abstrakta pionjÀrerna.Det jag kommit fram till Àr att teosofin hade en stor betydelse för Mondrian, men inte lika stor betydelse som personerna som förmedlade den och som kom att bli inspirationskÀllor för honom. Enligt mig Àr den mest betydande mÄlningen Evolution frÄn tidigt 1900-tal.

Organizational culture is subject of a great debate nowadays and there is especially three schools which affairs its nature of reality; modernism, symbolism and postmodernism. This thesis is built upon a case study about the organization Idé & KunskapsCentrum, which experience various cultural issues. Observations made during visits in the organization environment forms the ground on which discussions about different perspectives are made regarding organizational culture.The thesis describes and investigates the subject of organizational culture and its relationship to human behavior in organizations. Furthermore, I discuss and analyze organizational culture from the three different perspectives, in order to present a critical view on the subject for the reader.The thesis is based upon a case study about the organization Idé & KunskapsCentrum. A qualitative research method has been conducted with data collected especially from an ethnographic study, but also via semi-structured interviews.

This paper presents an approach in contemporary, abstract art for a new way of experiencing modernist abstraction. This has not been possible until now, about 40 years after the postmodern turn against modernism in art, and the closely connected formalism. This new approach is represented in this paper by the Swedish contemporary artists Ann Edholm and Jacob Dahlgren. Modernist artists such as Kasimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian receives a new relevance to contemporary abstract art. This opens up for a new, more complex and more dialectical understanding and re-evaluation of modernism and its abstract art.This is shown by a historical and chronological investigation which highlights modernist abstract art, formalism, and the critical and post-modern Neo-geometric ?abstraction? of the eighties.

This thesis examines the relationship between the marginalization of ornamentation during functionalist modernism and the effect it had on female graphic design practice. By examining the historiography from a gender and feminist theory of history I present a different way of interpreting, not only the history of graphic design but also the concept of graphic design. This thesis does not reach a conclusive result, instead it sets the foundation for further research and illustrates the opportunities that we as graphic designers have to benefit contemporary graphic design by critically reviewing and redefining our history through a diverse historiography..

The current planning philosophy is based on a political utopic modernism founded during the first part of the 20th century. The focus is, in planning a defined area, to maximize the internal efficiency and to create a competitivesociety. During the latter part of the former century globalization changed the context, thus creating the need for a new way of approaching physical planning. This paper shows that the historical and philosophicalmetaphor of flow can be applied to meet the demands in the global city. It also shows how the edge, as where interaction takes place, is an important part of the content that has to be defined.
